Waterford New Communities Network Communication Manifesto

Guiding Principles

1. Inclusivity & Representation

• We promote diverse voices and ensure that all communities feel represented and heard.
• Our communication reflects the rich cultural backgrounds of Waterford’s communities while fostering intercultural collaboration.

2. Neutrality & Non-Partisanship

• WNCN remains neutral on religious and political matters, ensuring that our communication does not favor or promote any particular political party, ideology, or religious belief.
• Content shared through our platforms should be measured against this neutrality—ensuring that all messaging is inclusive and non-divisive.

3. Respect & Integrity

• We communicate with respect and expect the same from all contributors. Hate speech, discrimination, or inflammatory content will not be tolerated.
• Misinformation and unverified claims will not be shared—our network upholds truth, accuracy, and fact-based information.

4. Community-Centred Approach

• Communication should always serve the community’s interests—focusing on empowerment, connection, and positive impact.
• Events, initiatives, and partnerships must align with WNCN’s mission to support migrant communities and social cohesion.

5. Social Media & Online Engagement

• WNCN’s social media platforms should be used to:
  • Share relevant local issues that impact migrant communities in Waterford.
  • Promote programs and events organized by WNCN, local migrant groups, and key stakeholders.
  • Highlight community success stories, opportunities, and services that benefit our network members.
• All content shared on WNCN’s social media must adhere to this communication manifesto, ensuring neutrality, inclusivity, and respect.
• Any concerns about shared content should be reviewed collectively to ensure alignment with these principles.

6. Transparency & Accountability

• Decision-making around communication is transparent, and all network members are encouraged to provide input.
• If a communication issue arises, it will be evaluated against this manifesto, ensuring fairness and consistency in decision-making.

Applying These Principles

When new information arises—whether religious, political, or otherwise sensitive—we will measure it against this manifesto:

• Does it promote inclusivity and representation?
• Does it maintain neutrality and avoid political or religious bias?
• Does it reflect respect, accuracy, and integrity?
• Does it serve the interests of the community?
• Does it align with WNCN’s mission and values?

If the answer is “no” to any of the above, the communication will be revised or reconsidered before sharing.
