Monica Rudi Kent

I am Italian and I have been living in Ireland since 1990. I went to Cork as a student and fell in love with this country and its wonderful people, so I never left. I have an Irish husband, an Irish/Italian daughter and an Italian/Irish one.

Favourite mottos:
“There are no strangers here; Only friends you haven’t yet met” – WB Yeats
“Say yes when you can, say no when you have to” – MRK

I teach Italian and Intercultural Communication at SETU, Waterford, and I love interacting with and learning from my students. I am also a yoga instructor, with an interest in physical and mental wellbeing, and therapeutics. I love meeting new people and old friends. I am very curious about life both in the present and in the past. The Waterford New Communities Network has been great for that. There is always something interesting happening and plenty of fantastic people from all over the world to get to know.

My life purpose is supporting the realization of human potential and making real connections with all the living beings I meet on my path (ambitious but not impossible), while having fun on the way. I can’t understand people willingly hurting others and, when I see that happening, in person or at a global level, I can lose the rag.

I have lots of interests, as you can see below. Lately, I have restarted writing poems, often as a gut response to what’s happening in the worlds. In my next life, I’d love to be an archaeologist.
