My name is Humaira Ashraf. Born in Pakistan, I have proudly been an Irish citizen since 2015. Embracing dual nationality has imbued me with a profound sense of dual responsibility. As a mother, I am dedicated to nurturing my children to become compassionate and constructive members of society, embodying values of kindness and community service.
I relocated to Ireland 20 years ago, captivated by the warmth, generosity, and rich cultural heritage of its people. The Irish proverb “Céad Míle Fáilte” perfectly encapsulates the heartfelt hospitality I have encountered, reinforcing my love for this nation.
My educational journey in Ireland began with a focus on enhancing my English proficiency, leading to my successful admission to English Level 5. With the unwavering support of my exceptional teachers, I obtained two degrees, significantly bolstering my confidence. I hold a bachelor’s degree in economics and psychology from Pakistan and am eager to pursue a master’s degree to further expand my academic horizons.
Community service is my passion. I am a staunch advocate for fostering strong communal bonds and promoting cultural exchanges as a means of building bridges between diverse communities. I believe that maintaining composure and confidence in the face of adversity is a profound source of empowerment. True happiness lies in recognizing our inherent power, patience, resilience, wisdom, and love, enabling us to make thoughtful decisions and take decisive actions during challenging times. While life’s unpredictability and stress are inevitable, we retain control over our responses.
My interests are diverse and enriching. I enjoy delving into new scientific literature, engaging in badminton, experimenting with culinary creations for my family, and exploring different cultures and languages. I am passionate about connecting with people, understanding their perspectives, and fostering dialogue to bridge societal gaps. Meeting and listening to people’s stories is a fulfilling way to build closer relationships and promote mutual understanding.
I am committed to supporting those in need, recognizing the universal struggles faced by many in today’s fast-paced world. I am profoundly grateful to my community for their trust and support, particularly in my work with the Pakistani Overseas Community (POC) over the past three years. My gratitude also extends to the WNCN, where I have encountered many individuals with genuine hearts.
