It has been a joy to witness the creativity and generosity of everyone who took part in Theatre of Tales. Participants from many cultures came together to share stories from their homelands and reimagine them through the magic of shadow theatre, blending storytelling and simple handmade design.
This project, supported by Creative Ireland Waterford and delivered in collaboration with Conscious Crafting and videographer Max Sarba, continues our work at the Waterford New Communities Network to build understanding, representation and connection across communities.
Storytelling is a wonderful way of sharing culture, a space where imagination, tradition and human experience meet. And it is especially meaningful that all this is happening here in Ireland, where storytelling is a cherished tradition and an essential part of the culture.
Though these tales come from different corners of the world, they all speak of courage, love, hope, and perseverance; values that unite us all.
My heartfelt thanks to everyone involved.
May these stories remind us how imagination can bridge languages, generations and cultures and how much we share beneath the surface.
